How did Superman reveal himself as a superhero to the world?

Ok, Clark decided to use his powers to help humanity but how did he "come out" if you will as Superman? What event occurred that made Clark reveal Superman to the world?|||In the post Crisis continuity there was never a Superboy, and Clark revealed "Superman" to the world as an adult. The most popular version has been the rescue of Lois Lane's crippled newscopter over the Daily Planet as per the events of Superman the movie.|||the Novelization of the original Doomsday arc, 'The Death and Life of Superman" has Clark recall meeting Lois as :

She was aboard a crippled air craft that was about to crash land at at airport

He was on the ground in Civilian cloths (plain generic, 20-something street wear)

He heard or saw the problem, Jumped up, caught the plane and set it down

Lois was first off the plane, and she attempted to interview him... the crowd soon followed and he took off

a few days later he appeared in full costume, set up a 'date' with Lois so she could interview him... then before she could turn it in, he, as Clark, turned in his own interview with Superman and got hired at the Planet

the go-to version most stories use in recent memory is a variation on this motif... and even it can be easily seen as a compilation of the "Opening Night" scenes from the 78 film in which he caught Lois' falling helicopter and a damaged Air Force One

-- Returns in 06 put Lois on an experimental launch plane to introduce Superman's return to Earth

-- Smallville's Finale had him debut in tights and catch an injured AF1, on which Lois had sneaked aboard

but basically it is canon that his first offical act as Superman is typically to rescue Lois and or a doomed aircraft|||He took his gear off.
