After the comic book Superman was killed off in the mid-nineties, how did the writers bring him back to life?

The comic book writers killed off Superman in '95 or so in the comic book series. Fans of the comic, I understand, suggested four possible ways the superhero writers could resurrect him. A documentary I saw (History Channel, of course), said the writers managed to combine all four of these "reader suggestions" for bringing Superman back to life.

What are the details? What kind of sci-fi machinery and plot devices were used by the comic book writers to raise a Kryptonian alien from the dead?|||Superman’s death in the comics was always intended to be hoax, as everyone connected to it knew. Only mainstream journalists and those who trusted them were fooled.

Immediately following Superman’s supposed death, DC Comics started stories about four characters dressed somewhat like Superman who were vying to replace him. That may be where your “four possible ways the superhero writers could resurrect him” comes from. The history channel, as usual, seems to have been anything but historical, garbling whatever source they had.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Death_o… for a good summary of the story of the death of Superman and how he was brought back to life.|||It was really just a way to make a lot of money off stupid people who bought the collectors sets that actually went down in value when they brought SuperMan back to life. A lot of people invested and lost a lot of money in this hoax like any other created.
