I read on wikipedia that there were 52 universes and that the Superman from Earth 2 was the most powerful, or the "Silver Age Superman" as they called him. I wasnt really truly sure what this meant.|||Silver Age Superman refers to the fact that this Superman was so unbelievably powerful, at that time, that all the other Supermen's power pales in comparison. I'm not sure about the 'continuity's', but the Silver Age Superman was able to travel through time and space and almost bend reality (moving planets, running at speeds faster then light, and people hitting him and him never moving, and such are reality-bending powers, how are you able to stop EVERYTHING?) to the point where he was too powerful for anyone to even pose as a menace to him (turning the world around and reversing time anyone?). They decided to kill off this Superman in order to bring all the continuities together (either Worlds Collide or Infinite Earths) or something like that.
He was just too powerful. None of the Supermen since have the 'omnipotence' Siver Age had. If he were a Marvel X-man character, he would been considered Omega class and would have been able to take down Phoenix because she would not have been able to hurt him and he would have been able to move faster than she could think, if that gives you any perspective.|||the one that could probably win in a fight is superman: red son
he was a super Genius version of superman that landed in russia then became a dictator and no one was able to stop him until lex luther made him read this note that said "why dont you put the earth in a bottle" and superman killed him self but he really didint he just pretended and his his identity from the people of earth
